Hospital staff lottery syndicate wins more than £100k on EuroMillions. The syndicate of 53 have scooped a golden ticket worth £118,041.10, the ticket matched 5 main numbers and 1 lucky star in the recent draw.

A lucky group of NHS workers are ecstatic after winning more than £100k in the EuroMillions lottery. Each member in the group will now take home just over £2.2k of winnings thanks to the 1 ticket, which was a bit of good fortune itself. Usually, the syndicate only buys tickets for the National lottery draw but because the EuroMillions jackpot was so high recently they decided to have an extra go.

The incredible jackpot on 8th October 2021 was an impressive £174,236,090 and the health workers came up winners by bagging the 2nd prize which was £118,041.10. The syndicate leader and pharmacy technician at Morriston Hospital in Swansea, Kim Owen, said: “We don’t always play EuroMillions but because the jackpot has been so high, we thought it was worth a try as the prizes would be big enough for us to share!

“I usually buy the tickets as and when but on the day of this draw, I decided I was going to wait and buy all the tickets at once. I felt like doing something a bit different might bring us a bit of luck – and excitingly I was right!

“I checked and double checked the numbers drawn on Friday night straight after the draw and I just couldn’t believe it, i was speechless. I had to ask my husband to triple check the ticket and as soon as I was sure it was true, I tried to call a few people in our group to share the good news. As it was late, no-one picked up, so I put it on the shared WhatsApp group instead.

“People were so excited and there were others, like me, who just couldn’t sleep so my phone was going off with messages throughout the night!” The syndicate is predominantly made up of staff in the pharmacy department at the hospital who are said to get on really well with each other and have given themselves the fitting nickname, “The Pharmily Crew,” according to online source.

After a challenging nearly 2 years working on the frontline especially during the pandemic, the EuroMillions win has helped lift all our syndicate members’ spirits, according to syndicate leader Kim.

A retired fisherman, who began his working life at the age of 14, is planning to treat himself to a new truck now that he’s a millionaire. Clovis Roussel of Le Goulet, N.B. won $1M when he bought ticket for the Lotto 6/49 last week, and just claimed his prize from the Lottery organization.

“I really needed to see the money in my bank before I can really believe it and determine what I will do with the winnings,” he said in a news release. Roussel heard that someone in his village on the Acadian Peninsula had won the big million dollar prize, when his wife got a call from a friend asking if she knew who it was. The unexpected winner went to his local store to get his ticket checked, and found out he was THE Le Goulet’s big winner.

Then he went straight to his son’s house to share the news. Roussel says his five children are also in the lobster fishery and one of his sons couldn’t believe he was a winner. “I walked in and said to my son that I was going to buy myself a brand new truck and pay for it in cash because he could,” Roussel said. “He didn’t believe me, so I told him it was because I had won $1M.” He really thought i was making it up,’  he said to me. Show me the ticket, so his dad did, he took the ticket and he went on the computer to check the numbers for himself.”

Roussel is the 2nd biggest fisherman winner of the Lotto 6/49. In early August, another retired fisherman from the same village won $666,380 while playing Lotto 6/49.

I have only just woke up and I thought it must be some kind of scam or joke, so I hung up,’ she laughed. ‘I checked my ticket online just then and knew I had to call you straight back. This isn’t even registering right now. I can’t believe this.’ When asked how she would spend her winnings, the woman said it would speed up her retirement plans. Being in lockdown at the moment, the couple said that they can’t do too much in a way of celebrations, so perhaps get some takeaway and crack open a bottle of wine tonight,’ she said.

The winning ticket was bought at Central Lotto at Central Square Shopping Centre in Altona Meadows, the store owner was thrilled to hear about the win. ‘This is the 2nd division 1 winning entry we have sold in 2 months,’ he said. A supermarket shopper has beaten odds of 1 in 302.5 million to win 1 billion dollars on the US Mega Millions lottery.

The lucky winner popped out for some shopping at their local grocery store Kroger in Detroit, Michigan – and brought home a billion dollar (almost £731m) ticket. The $1 billion jackpot-winning Mega Millions ticket is the third-largest lottery prize in U.S. history.

“Someone in Michigan woke up to life-changing news on Saturday morning, and Kroger Michigan congratulates the newest  multimillionaire,” said Rachel Hurst, a regional spokeswoman for the grocery chain.

The Mega Millions top prize had been growing since 15th September – which was the last time the jackpot was won. After a record run of 37 draws, the third-largest jackpot in the history of Mega Millions was won last Friday night! There was only a single ticket to match all six numbers drawn on 22nd January 2021 – the white balls 4, 26, 42, 50 and 60, plus the gold Mega Ball 24. It is the 18th Mega Millions jackpot won in Michigan over the years; the last one was a prize shared with Rhode Island on 13th October 2017. Michigan is one of the original founding members of Mega Millions.

In addition to the $1B jackpot-winning ticket, there were plenty of other big winners last Friday night as well, a total of 10 tickets matched the five white balls to win the game’s second prize, sold in North Carolina and Virginia. The other eight are worth $1 million – two each in Florida and New York, and one each in Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

The jackpot was last won at $120 million in Wisconsin on 15th September, and in this jackpot run there were almost 42.8 million winning tickets at all prize levels, including 70 second-tier winners of $1 million or more. Those million-dollar prizes were won in 24 different jurisdictions from coast to coast.

An amazing couple Frances and Patrick Connolly have given away about £60 million to help others around them to loved ones, charities and those in need during the covid19 pandemic.

Frances and Patrick, who lived in Hartlepool for 25 years, had said that their first priority was a list of around 50 friends and family to share their amazing fortune with following their big win on New Year’s Day 2019. Going against all the usual stereotypical champagne lifestyle that might be expected of huge jackpot winners, the pair have set up two charitable foundations: the Kathleen Graham Trust in Northern Ireland, where they are both from originally, and the PFC Trust in County Durham, where they now live.

The couples good deeds have included buying 1,000 or more presents for patients who will be in hospital on Christmas Day away from loved ones and handing out hundreds of tablets for people who found themselves isolated during the coronavirus lockdown so that they can still keep in touch and not feel so lonely.

Mrs Connolly is originally from Glebe in Co Tyrone and businessman Mr Connolly is from Belfast. The couples family consist of their three daughters and three grandchildren. Describing the past two years, Mrs Connolly said it had been an “absolutely manic whirlwind, and a total, total joyride from start to finish”.

The low-key happy couple, who were living in Moira, Co Down, at the time of their online “lucky dip” win, famously told how they had celebrated with a hug and a cup of tea, and vowed they would not become part of the “jet set” usual lifestyle.

Mrs Connolly said she had wanted to speak out now at the end of 2020 to help draw attention to the good work being done by so many people for charity during the pandemic. She said: “People need to be celebrated. Not me, not by any stretch of the imagination me, but by me talking drawing attention to the fact that, actually, we’re a nation of heroes without capes, up and down the country.”

Now living in a five-bedroom bungalow in County Durham – Set in five acres of land, with a tennis court and swimming pool – Mrs Connolly, 54, said they had turned down options to move to castles, as well as a grand stately homes one of which had 15-bedrooms and came with a village.

They also chose not to fly first class to New Zealand to visit one of their daughters, stating that they could have helped a young couple pay off a bit of their mortgage with the ticket price – instead opting for the comforts of business class.

Mrs Connolly said: “Patrick joked for years that if we ever won the lottery, he’d take away my mobile phone and never let me use the computer again because I’d give away the lot – But I’ve taken real joy from helping other people where we can espcially during such a tragic year for so many people.”

“We’ve no need for supercars, and I’m so proud that our daughters also drive second-hand cars, i would have been happy with a second hand Jaguar, as this is the car i have always wanted but we couldn’t find one so I treated myself to a brand new E-Pace Jaguar. It’s something that does the job, and there’s no need to be flash,” she said.

As well as running both charities, Mrs Connolly, retired from a career in education, helps her husband who owns a number of plastics manufacturing factories. When asked if the 56-year-old was not tempted to retire after the win, Mrs Connolly said: “He wants to keep people working. We’re too young to pack it in yet.”

On their list of family and friends to help were their daughters, Mrs Connolly’s three sisters and two brothers, and Mr Connolly’s three sisters. They also gave all their nieces and nephews money to buy their own homes.

Away from looking after relatives, the couple both flew into action when the pandemic rose to its peak, helping with much-needed supplies of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). During this time Mrs Connolly bought new machines for a sewing group in Northern Ireland when she heard they were making PPE for health workers on the Covid-19 frontline.

A husband hid his £250,000 Health Lottery jackpot win for two days from his wife. Why? So he could surprise her on her day off.

Lottery winner Tim Carson, from Essex UK, landed a huge prize in The Health Lottery’s monthly Mega Raffle draw. When the 49-year-old realised he had won, he kept quiet. He didn’t tell his wife, Alison.

Why did he hide his win? He wanted to make a big reveal. He wanted to announce a plan to buy their dream home with the winnings as a present for her standing by him after he was forced to retire as a police officer through ill-health.

This happened just one week before they were looking to move home just to save money. Alison Carson, 51, was looking into moving out of her flat of 22 years and into a retirement village to save money.

Now, they’re going to use the money to finally buy their dream house, six years after their married.

Tim said: “We always said that we would buy a house if we won money with the lottery.

So this is my present to Alison as she has kept us both going. I am eternally grateful for her support since I retired.”

screenshot-2020-02-12-at-10-12-14

Former police officer Tim only told his dog, Harley, about the huge Health Lottery jackpot win.

Alison works at the Chelmsford High Street Marks and Spencer. Tim had to leave his job at the British Transport Police after suffering from an unexplained medical condition.

Alison burst into tears after Tim broke the incredible news. She recalled: “I can’t believe Tim managed to keep this a secret for two days. It’s truly the best news ever. I’m so excited!”

The Health Lottery operates as 12 local society lotteries, representing different areas of Great Britain. Regions take turns hosting draws to raise money for their local area. That means everyone gets an equal share of the pot to put towards good causes.

Some lucky Australians (or players of Welovetto) could sweep up to $45 million in Lotto winnings this week alone.

It seems like 2020 is going to be a very lucky year for Australian lottery games, with this week’s jackpots including $40 million Powerball and $5 million Oz Lotto.

A $5 million draw was last night. The next chances to win continue tomorrow with the $40 million Powerball, which is already drawing high levels of attention online.

Is the year of the Rat a lucky lottery Zodiac?

Since Chinese New Year has just passed, potential winners should consult their Chinese Zodiac signs before buying a ticket. According to Powerball’s data, players born in the year of the Rat have landed the most division one wins. 2020 is the year of the Rat and it is also the zodiac sign for people born in the years 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984 and 1996.

According to the zodiac tradition, people with the Rat sign enjoy saving and collecting, and are optimistic and energetic. Australia’s official lottery provider is The Lott. Bronwyn Spencer, a spokeswoman for The Lott, said the data from more than 400 registered division-one winners suggested the Rat’s optimism may be behind the wins.

She states: “We can’t say for sure why Rat sign players had such a winning streak…

“It may be because their optimistic and energetic nature encourages them to dream of that life-changing win,”

However Ms Spencer emphasised that Zodiac signs do not actually impact the lucky draws on this week.

“Whatever your Chinese Zodiac sign is, it’s important to remember that lottery games are entertaining games of chance…

“Every number on your ticket has an equal chance of being drawn” she said.

400 division-one winners across Australian lottery games

Last year The Lott, released the findings of a new survey of more than 100 previous division-one winners. The majority of winners of Australian lotto used the money to safeguard for the future. For example, it found most winners celebrated by investing, helping out loved ones and buying a house.

“Each year, we crown about 400 division-one winners across our lottery games,” Lott spokeswoman Ally Ramsamy said.

“Many of these only discover their good fortune after we make contact with them…

“Not surprisingly, many division-one winners are stunned by the revelation and describe that winning feeling as one of complete and utter disbelief.”

A wildfire victim wins $1,000,000 on the lottery. His uninsured home burnt down late 2019 in devastating wildfires.

A wildfire victim from Australia wins a millionaire on the lottery. His family is celebrating a miracle. His uninsured family home burnt don in the recent fires.

The unidentified man was devastated after his home burned down in New South Wales during the horrendous bushfires in Australia. Apparently, he feared he’d never be able to rebuild his home because he was uninsured.

On Thursday, lottery officials contacted him at work. Authorities told him he had won the top prize, which was approximately £525,000. He used his wife’s lucky numbers to win Wednesday’s Gold Lotto.

Furthermore, the winner, who remained anonymous, said he was overjoyed knowing that he could now rebuild his family home.

“All that was left of the home was a few charred teacups. We didn’t know if we would ever be able to rebuild but now we definitely can. This is amazing. I can’t get over it.”

The man was the only “Division One” — or jackpot — winner in the lottery that day. The winning numbers were 9, 42, 24, 13, 22 and 11, and the 26 and 1.

Many other effected by the fires…

On Thursday the NSW Rural Fire Service confirmed 1,870 homes had been destroyed, with a further 753 damaged. Fire officials say these figures are likely to increase.

Over half a billion animals are dead or suffering because of the wildfires.

As of Thursday, 132 fires continue to burn in the area. 55 are still not contained.

The death toll stands at 26. Additionally, 10.3 million hectares of land burn and thousands of people evacuated from holiday beaches.

The winner, from Mount Cotton in Queensland, said the timing of the win was “impeccable”.
