The Powerball jackpot reached an estimated $1 billion as no winning ticket was sold in the recent drawing. The draw is the third largest in US history.

The Powerball jackpot has once again reached a staggering estimated amount of $1 billion, following the absence of a winning ticket in the latest drawing. This draw stands as the third largest jackpot in the history of the United States.

The next draw on Wednesday 19th July will hold its position as the nation’s third highest jackpot until won. The winner will defy the odds of one in 292.2 million.

Winners have the choice of receiving the $1 billion prize in yearly instalments or a one-time lump sum of $516.8 million before taxes. The largest Powerball jackpot to date was a massive $2.04 billion in November 2022.

In the latest drawing, three individuals won $2 million each by matching all five numbers plus the Power Play. The winning tickets were sold in Arkansas, Georgia, and Texas. Additionally, five individuals won $1 million each by matching all five numbers. The winning tickets were sold in Connecticut, Florida, Kentucky, New York, and Pennsylvania.

The most recent Powerball jackpot winner secured a top prize of nearly $253 million on April 19. Since then, there have been 38 consecutive drawings without a grand prize winner.

45 states across the US are involved in the Powerball, including Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The escalating jackpot has led to an increase in lottery participants. For example, according to store clerks, who have observed more frequent visits from eager players.

Talk about good fortune! North Carolina man wins $344.6M on the Powerball lottery with numbers found on a fortune cookie.

A North Carolina man discovered on Tuesday that he won a $344.6 million Powerball jackpot, the largest prize in the state’s history. The winner was Charles W. Jackson Jr., a 66-year-old retiree from Raleigh. He said that when he called his wife that morning to tell her about his victory, he didn’t realize how much he had won.

“I said, ‘I think I won at least $50,000,'” Jackson said during a press conference at the North Carolina lottery headquarters in Raleigh. Soon after, Jackson realized he had actually matched all six numbers to win the grand prize.

“So then I called her back and said, ‘Look, I won the whole thing,'” Jackson said. “She said, ‘Well, how much is the whole thing?’ I said, ‘I don’t know, I just played. I don’t know what it is.’ And she said, ‘Google it.'”

How did he gain such good fortune? Apparently, it’s all from a fortune cookie from a takeout!

He found numbers from a fortune cookie his stepdaughter got a couple of years ago at the age of 6, according to The News & Observer.

Jackson said he has played those same five numbers in Powerball and Mega Millions every week since. He occasionally made changes to the sixth number.

The odds of choosing all six numbers correctly and winning the jackpot are about 1 in 292.2 million.

“I never expected to win,” Jackson said. “I just got lucky.”

He opted to receive his winnings in a lump-sum payout of $233 million. After state and federal taxes are subtracted, he’ll walk away with $158 million, some of which he plans to donate to three charities — the Wounded Warrior Project, Shriners Hospital for Children and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

He is also planning a trip to Vietnam, where his wife is from. Apart from this, he doesn’t have any extravagant plans for his newfound fortune.

“I hope it don’t change me a lot,” Jackson said. “I’m going to try not to change my life. I’m still going to wear jeans. Maybe newer ones.”

Maybe you should try using numbers from your takeout fortune cookies! It seems to work! Play global lotteries, including the US PowerBall, at Welovetto today!

A US truck driver won a massive $298 million lottery jackpot on the US Powerball, and immediately quits his job!

A man in Brooklyn, USA, reacted to the news he had won $298 (£225) million on the lottery in the same way that any of us would – screaming ‘I’m rich!’ before immediately quitting his job.

Truck driver Dave Johnson had been off sick for a few days and needed to refuel his truck before going back to work. While at the station, he spent $5 (£3.79) on a Powerball ticket, but the 56-year-old was so ill that he didn’t watch the draw that evening or go to work the next day, according to NBC.

The Jamaica native was completely oblivious to the fact his life had been flipped on its head until a co-worker informed him that the winning ticket was bought at the gas station where he regularly refueled. A few days after the draw, he went to the station to check his ticket.

Sure enough, his numbers were an exact match: 5, 25, 38, 52 and 67, with Powerball 24. Better still, he was the sole winner.

Trading the old truck for a red Porsche…

With that, he packed in his job ‘right away, no delay’.

Speaking to NBC, he said: “I jumped up and down in the store.

“I went, got back in my car, I turned my music up and zoomed on home,” adding that he then told his family, “I’m rich! I’m rich! I’m not going to work anymore.”

Mr. Johnson cashed in the ticket on 2 January, which certainly started 2019 off on a good note.

We shouldn’t be too jealous of Mr. Johnson, though, as he won’t actually end up with the full sum. The winner had the choice between the total amount on an annuity basis or $180.2 million (£136m) cash. Mr. Johnson went for the latter, which means that after-tax he is only $114m (£86m) richer.

But while Mr. Johnson immediately quit his job, he has no plans to relocate. Instead, he’s going to invest the lottery winnings wisely and trade in the old truck for a red Porsche. He’ll need to be careful ‘zooming’ around in that, though – it’ll go a lot quicker than the truck he’s used to.

Would you quit your job if you won a lottery jackpot?! You won’t find out if you don’t play! Find many games at Welovetto for your chance of leaving your old life behind and starting a new.

Here are the largest lottery jackpots of 2018! Can you remember some of these big stories? Maybe this could be you next year…

The past year has been a banner one for the U.S. lottery industry, with six out of the 15 largest jackpots in the history of the game being up for grabs, including two in the top four. From coast to coast, Americans lined up to buy Mega Millions and Powerball tickets by the handful, hoping to become millionaires – and in one case, a billionaire – overnight. Here are the five biggest lottery drawings of 2018 and those who beat the overwhelming odds to win them.

$1.537 billion, Mega Millions, drawn Oct. 23

The second-largest American lottery drawing of all time has a winner in South Carolina, but he or she still has yet to come forward. The winning ticket was sold at a KC Mart convenience store in Simpsonville and was drawn in late October just days before the second entry on this list. The store’s owner, C.J. Patel, told the Greenville News that he hopes the attention brings him more business. South Carolina is one of the few states where winners can remain anonymous and the mystery person has until April 21 of next year (180 days after the drawing) to redeem the winning ticket. If they don’t, the massive jackpot gets redistributed back to the 46 states and jurisdictions that participate in the Mega Millions game.

$687.8 million, Powerball, drawn Oct. 27

This huge prize was claimed by two people in New York and Iowa. Robert Bailey, the 67-year-old winner from the Big Apple, told officials that “a family member gave me the numbers over twenty-five years ago”. He faithfully played them. The other winner, 51-year-old Lerynne West of Redfield, Iowa, says her newfound wealth will be spent on a “new car” and a “long vacation”. The since-retired insurance worker is also setting up the Callum Foundation with her family. This is named in honor of her grandson who lived just a day after being born prematurely. The charitable organization is set to launch next year. It will provide grants to groups aiming to relieve problems surrounding subjects including “poverty and hunger, education, animal welfare, and veteran affairs.”

$559.7 million, Powerball, drawn Jan. 6

Next up, a woman from Merrimack, N.H., rang in the new year with this stunning cash haul. Then, she spent the next two months locked in a court battle to keep her name private. Her lawyers, according to the New York Times, argued that she feared for her safety. Furthermore, she was concerned about people coming out of the woodwork to demand a stake in her prize. She ultimately won the case, but a judge ruled that her hometown must be made public. The newspaper says the woman has donated a combined $250,000 of her winnings to Girls Inc. of New Hampshire, a girls empowerment group. Furthermore, to a trio of End 68 Hours of Hunger chapters, which provide meals to schoolchildren to may not get the chance to eat on the weekends.

$543 million, Mega Millions, drawn July 24

Those office lottery pools do result in happy endings, such as this jackpot claimed by a group of 11 financial workers in the San Francisco Bay Area. Roland Reyes publicly claimed the prize on behalf of its members, ranging in age from 21 to 60. He said the decision to start an office pool was a “spur of the moment” act. None of the members involved in it – including his boss – want to quit working. In addition, some of the prize money will go to paying off mortgages, college tuitions’, helping out family members, returning to school and traveling, California lottery officials said.

$533 million, Mega Millions, drawn March 30

Finally, Richard Wahl, a 47-year-old from Vernon, N.J., was the sole winner of this jackpot. He holds the record for being the largest one in the history of the Garden State. The now-retired production manager revealed that he kept the ticket in a fireproof safe after winning. Furthermore, he checked the numbers 15 times. Consequently, when his mother called and asked if he was the “somebody in New Jersey” who won the prize. Wahl says he initially lied and said, “absolutely not”. It was until he was ready to come forward that he told the family. The winning numbers were picked by a machine. “We believe it’s God’s plan,” Wahl says. In addition, he plans to use the cash as “life-changing money for family, friends, [and] people in need”. Some of it also may go toward his goal of restoring a 1963 Corvette.

Here are the Powerball results for last night’s draw (August 4th). Do you have a winning ticket for the $203M jackpot?

The jackpot for Saturday’s Powerball lottery drawing has added to a massive $203 million.

The numbers from Saturday’s draw included 3, 11, 38, 44 and 58 with a Powerball of 2 and a Powerplay of 4x. The cash option for the drawing is worth $121.2 million, which would be given as a lump sum.

In the most recent drawing Wednesday, while no one hit the $187 million jackpot, tickets sold in Vermont and California matched five numbers but not the Powerball.

The jackpot hasn’t been won since June 20, when Steven Nickell of Salem, Oregon captured the $150.4 million prize. Nickell, who didn’t discover he won until July 1, chose the lumpsum prize and won $61.7 million after taxes. He was the fifth jackpot winner of the year.

Information About The Powerball

The game is played in 44 states, Washington D.C, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands (and through Welovetto, of course).

The odds of hitting the jackpot are 292,201,338 to 1. Players have roughly a 1 in 11,688,053 chance to win the second prize of at least $1 million.

Lottery jackpots range from a $20 win to pocketing millions of dollars. But bigger jackpots are more exciting, right? Let’s look at the top 5 lottery jackpots in US history.

Almost everyone has dreamt about winning the lottery at some point in their lives. What would you do if you won one of the biggest jackpots ever? Here, we look at the top 5 lottery jackpots in US history.

The most recent winner bagged the 11th spot on the list, with a jackpot of $456.7 million from Pennsylvania.

These jackpots are racked up by both the Powerball and Mega Millions games, which are the two most widely played lotteries in the United States.

5 Biggest US Lottery Winners

1) 1.6 billion (US Powerball) – 13/01/2013

The record-shattering jackpot was split three ways by Mae and Marvin Acosta from Chino Hills, California; John and Lisa Robinson of Munford, Tennessee; and Maureen Smith, a 70-year-old from Melbourne Beach, Florida.

2) $758.7 million (US Powerball) – 23/07/2017

The winning ticket was sold in Chicopee, Massachusetts, to Mavis Wanczyk, who won the largest jackpot with a single winner in American history. The 53-year old said she would retire early and that she immediately quit her job.

3) $656 million (Mega Millions) – 30/03/2012

This jackpot had three winners. A retired couple from Illinois, Merle and Patricia Butler, received one of the slices of the top prize. “We are just everyday people who have worked hard all our life…We just happened to hit it big,” Merle said. Another winning ticket was divided among a group of friends in Maryland who dubbed themselves the “Three Amigos.” The third winner is still unknown.

4) $648 million (Mega Millions) – 17/12/2013

Two winners split this jackpot, including Ira Curry, a Georgia woman, who said she bet on a combination of family birthdays. The other winner, Steve Tran, was working as a delivery driver when he bought a Mega Millions ticket in San Jose, California. Tran said he called his boss after he won to say, “I hit the jackpot. I don’t think I’m going to come in today, tomorrow, or ever.”

5) $590.5 million (US Powerball) – 18/05/2013

84-year-old Gloria Mackenzie of Florida had the one-and-only winning ticket, but it could’ve easily gone to someone else. “While in line at Publix, another lottery player was kind enough to let me go ahead of them in line to purchase the winning quick-pick ticket,” Mackenzie said.

Maybe you’ll be on the top 5 list in the future for the largest jackpots in history. Play Mega Millions and US Powerball at Welovetto today. What are you waiting for?!

A lottery ticket was won after its winner returned a carton of orange juice to save money! Talk about fate! Souami, 55, won $315 million after returning a $5 bottle of OJ.

The bottle of orange juice cost $5 at ShopRite, but Tayeb Souami’s wife had found the same brand on sale for $2.50 elsewhere. Yes, it was only 250 pennies, but every one of them mattered to a family that had just refinanced its home and had a daughter headed to college.

So on May 19, Souami dutifully trudged back to the store in Hackensack, N.J. —  OJ and receipt in hand.

But at the customer service counter, he saw a sign for the Powerball jackpot, which had ballooned to $306 million at that point, according to video of Souami’s news conference posted by CBS New York. He liked the number and was feeling lucky, so he purchased two tickets using the money he got from the returned orange juice and mostly forgot about the lottery for the rest of the day.

The next morning, it was more errands. Souami, 55, had some work to do in the yard, but he also wanted to get his car washed while his wife stayed at their home in Little Ferry, preparing meals for the week.

But on the way to the carwash, he stepped into a 7-Eleven convenience store to check the tickets.

“I scanned the first ticket. It wasn’t a winner. And the second ticket it was good but said ‘Must be seen by the retailer.’ I scan it again and it [said the same thing].  And I say to the lady, I hand it to the lady and I say ‘Can you check? I think your machine is not working.’

Souami said the clerk scanned the ticket and said, “Oh, my God!”

Lottery Winner’s Heart Wouldn’t Stop Fluttering

“My heart, it was just beating beating, beating,” he told reporters. “And she kept saying, ‘Oh, my God. Oh, my God.’ It’s like when you see a ‘Tom and Jerry’ cartoon: The heart goes boom boom boom boom.”

Souami had purchased the sole winning ticket. He is a father of two who immigrated from an undisclosed country in Africa in 1996. The winning numbers were 3, 6, 9, 17, 56 and the Powerball 25, according to NewJersey.com. His odds of winning were one in 292.2 million. He described himself as an occasional lottery player, more likely to play when the prize reaches a high amount.

Souami, who until very recently was an accountant for a food importing company, said he wanted to make sure the 200 people he works with would be okay before he quit.

The father of two decided to take the $183 million cash payout and remain in his New Jersey hometown. He’ll pay off his recently refinanced home, pay for his daughter’s college tuition and pay off his own college loans.

And perhaps he’ll toast with his new favorite drink.

“I love orange juice now,” he said.

A New Hampshire woman who bought a Powerball lottery ticket worth $560 million last month is fighting to remain anonymous, saying in a lawsuit that releasing her name would “constitute a significant invasion of her privacy.”

The New Hampshire woman who bought a Powerball ticket worth $560 million last month filed a lawsuit against the New Hampshire Lottery Commission in order to stay anonymous, saying that releasing her name would be a significant invasion of privacy.

The woman filed suit against the New Hampshire Lottery Commission under the pseudonym Jane Doe. She says she made a “huge mistake” when she signed her real name on the back of the ticket before contacting a lawyer. The lawyer told her she could have remained anonymous had she established a trust.

I made a huge mistake sharing my name

The lawsuit, filed last week, describes the woman as an “engaged community member.”

“She wishes to continue this work and the freedom to walk into a grocery store or attend public events without being known or targeted as the winner of a half-billion dollars,” the complaint said. It adds that she plans on remaining in New Hampshire and giving back “to the state and community that has given so much to her.”

The woman is represented by the law firm of Shaheen and Gordon. William Shaheen wrote a blogpost Jan. 8, two days after the drawing, that shines a spotlight on the difficulties the lawsuit might face.

“Don’t sign that back of the ticket because if you sign it you lost confidentiality,” he says. “It becomes public, and you lost the option of staying anonymous.”

The woman has not yet claimed the prize. Furthermore, the lawsuit says the fight for her anonymity is costing her a fortune in interest.

McIntyre said he understands the winner’s desire to keep her name out of the media. He said, “the lottery must proceed in accordance its rules”.

What are your thoughts? While your thinking, give the lottery a go at Welovetto today.

Two American lotteries, Powerball and Mega Millions, award more than $1 billion this previous weekend to two separate lucky winners.

A player in Florida scooped $450 million in Friday night’s Mega Millions draw. This happened before a New Hampshire ticket holder capped a winning weekend with a $559.7 million Powerball windfall.

The Powerball Winners

The player is the third biggest single-ticket Powerball winner since the game began, after matching the winning numbers 12, 29, 30, 33 and 61 with Powerball 26. However, the player is yet to be named and has a year to come forward and claim their prize.

The ticket was purchased at Reeds Ferry Market in Merrimack, New Hampshire on Sunday morning. It was revealed to be the shop that sold the first Powerball-winning ticket since Wednesday 25th October 2017. Crowds were eager to find out more about the Granite State’s biggest ever lottery winner and to congratulate shop owner Sam Safa.

Safa told the press that he hopes the winner is a regular customer at the store. The store sits between state capital Concord and Boston, Massachusetts. He admitted to being “very excited and overwhelmed”. He tells reporters that the store had helped crown many winners previously, but nothing like the most recent prize.

The Mega Millions Winners

Friday’s winner matched the winning Mega Millions line 28, 30, 39, 59 and 70 with Mega Ball 10.

Friday night saw the fourth-largest Mega Millions jackpot since changes were made in October. The ticket won on a line bought at a 7-Eleven in Port Richey.

The Florida city has been buzzing with excitement over the weekend. Locals are keen to learn the identity of their latest multimillionaire.

Donna Aloi is a local woman who picked up $24.1 million on Florida Lotto in 2001. When contacted by Fox 13 News, Aloi had some words of advice for this weekend’s winner. She says, “Whatever you do, just remember money is not gonna buy happiness, that’s like the most important thing.”

In Massachusetts, a single US Powerball ticket has matched all six numbers for a massive $758.7 million Jackpot win. The second largest jackpot in US Powerball history. However, the winner is yet to be identified.

Since the last PowerBall winner announced on June 10th, there has been no winner for the last 20 draws. The grand prize was sold at the Handy Variety convenience store in Watertown, Massachusetts. The winning ticket holder has yet to claim their prize. Let’s hope they have not misplaced it!

The winning numbers are 06-07-16-23-26 with the Powerball number 04.

Three tickets sold in California matched five out of six winning numbers too. The winners splitting the $1 million prize. According to NBC Bay Area, these tickets were sold in Milpitas, Daly City and Newport Beach. Powerball is played in 44 states, as well as Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Lottery officials say that in New York State, Powerball sales topped more than $1 million an hour on the day of the draw. Even though the odds of winning are 1 out of 292 million, people flocked to gas stations to buy their tickets. Managers were forced to bring in extra staff in during the week build up to the jackpot draw. Relative to the winning odds, you are more likely to be;

  • killed by an asteroid (1 in 700,000),
  • struck by lightning while drowning (1 in 183 million)
  • give birth to quadruplets (1 in 729,000).

California Lottery spokeswoman Melissa Villarin talked about how the incredibly high jackpot ‘fuels the lottery craze’. California PowerBall sales averaged $8.1 million a week in 2016 until the record $1.6 billion jackpot was announced and rose to $386 million in frantic sales. She says “Sure, for $50 million you can retire in a nice house and live well. But $700 million, that’s Bill Gates money. It’s a daydream, it’s fame.”
