What does a “Must be Won” Jackpot actually mean? Here is why you should be excited…

1. Wondering what “Must Be Won: draw means?

A ‘must-be-won’ draw occurs when no one has matched all the lucky numbers to win the UK Lotto jackpot in the last five draws. And then, the next draw will be a ‘must-be-won’ event.

During this event, if no one matched all 6 main numbers. The £12.7 MILLION Jackpot will be shared among lower-tier prizes, leading to substantially larger rewards and greater chances of winning for everyone.

2. If no one Matches 6 this time, how is the Jackpot paid out?

Winners who match two numbers not only receive a FREE ticket but also win £5.00. Moreover, for the Match 3 prize tier, it varies, but it offers a substantial increase compared to the standard draw prize of £30.

-For example: In the most recent ‘Must Be Won’ draw on September 2, 2023, a generous £110 prize was awarded.

The Match 5 prize can see a massive increase. While the standard draw pays out £1,750, the ‘Must Be Won’ rolldown draw has the potential to deliver well over £10,000. The prize money will significantly multiply depending on the number of match 5 winning tickets.

In a nutshell, this Wednesday’s “Must Be Won” Jackpot draw is not to be missed!

EuroMillions: Record £184m/ €220M jackpot won at last in yesterdays draw – by a single French ticket-holder! The winning EuroMillions numbers were 21, 26, 31, 34, 49 and the Lucky Star numbers were 02 and 05.

A record £184m/ €220M EuroMillions jackpot has been won! The amount went unclaimed after Tuesday’s draw – and led to a surge of entries for Friday’s game.  The French winner, who now has exactly 60 days to claim their prize, would be able to count themselves richer than recent single launched singer Adele, who has a net worth of £130m, according to The Sunday Times Rich List. Now, the next jackpot up for grabs on Tuesday sits at an estimated £14m – it’s all still to play for!!

So far this year there have been 5 UK EuroMillions jackpot winners, including the April anonymous winners of £122m and £111m in June. The biggest recent UK winners to go public were Frances & Patrick Connolly from Northern Ireland, who won an incredible £115m prize in 2019. That year a UK ticket holder also bagged themselves a £170m jackpot but in this case decided to remain anonymous.

Where the ticket was bought or whether the winner is an individual or a syndicate will not be revealed unless the ticket-holder decides to go public with their information. Camelot official Andy Carter, senior winners’ adviser at The National Lottery, said before the draw: “It’s all to play for on Friday night as the whopping EuroMillions jackpot of an estimated £184M / €220M remains up for grabs.

“EuroMillions has now hit its cap, which means any money that would have gone into the jackpot will now boost prizes in the next winning prize tier.

“If one UK winner banks the lot, they would instantly become the UK’s biggest ever National Lottery winner. Players were encouraged to get their tickets early to be in with a chance of winning this extraordinary prize.”

A school dinner lady who scooped a £1m lottery win said she had no plans to give up the day job.

Karen Dakin, 53, from Nacton near Ipswich, has worked all throughout the pandemic helping to look after the children of key workers. She said matching five main numbers and a bonus ball – will allow her family to have the money to buy a house.

“I have absolutely no plans to give up being a dinner lady – I love my job, the school and all the kids,” she said. Her lucky numbers were the ones she had always used and were based on her son Callum’s date and time of birth.

“When I called the National Lottery line, I remember the man on the other end of the phone saying ‘you’re rather calm!’, after he’d just confirmed the life-changing news,” said Mrs Dakin. “I guess I was just in a state of absolute shock!”

The lucky winner said it had been a tough couple of years for her family after her husband, Jeff, 60, had a serious stroke in November 2018. “All of my family were amazing, as was the school where I work during the toughest of years, and I am looking forward to celebrating with all of them as soon as it is safe to do so,” she said.

The couple, who have been married for 35 years, have already started looking at properties to buy. “We love the area so will stay local but it’ll mean so much – more space for us all and the peace of mind of having no mortgage. It’s amazing,” said Mrs Dakin.

They are also planning a holiday for when it is safe to travel again. “We’ve never been able to afford a holiday before and Callum has never actually been on one,” said Mrs Dakin.

“After the time we’ve all been through we’d love to get away – maybe Center Parcs before a big trip to Disneyworld in Florida.”

Grants given by the National Lottery will help out hundreds of domestic violence victims who have struggled through hard times.

Over £3.7m in grant money from the National Lottery Community Fund has been shared between 116 charity and community projects across Northern Ireland. The funds will tackle issues affecting communities across Northern Ireland such as domestic violence and isolation.

Furthermore, children, who are forced to flee homes because of domestic violence, are among those who will benefit.

A few charities who have received a grant include:

  • Belfast and Lisburn Women’s Aid – £9,600 to provide “buddy back packs” for children.
  • Fermanagh Women’s Aid – £500,000 to help abuse victims get back on their feet.
  • Mid Ulster Women’s Aid – £8,000 grant to refurbish their facility.
  • Fermanagh Women’s Aid – £498,237 grant to fund its Safety and Wellbeing Support project over the next four years.

The grant allowed children to feel at home as soon as possible

Noelle Collins, from Belfast and Lisburn Women’s Aid, said:

“When children come to the refuge it is new and scary for them, and it’s really important that they start to feel like it’s home as soon as possible,”

She also though the ‘buddy back pack’ was a brilliant idea since it gave the children something that was theirs after most of them had to leave their belongings behind.

“We try and include things that will help them settle in, such as comfy PJs and some cuddly toys and a tooth brush.

“They can also use the bag as a school bag.”

Belfast and Lisburn Women’s Aid fill up 106 beds in their three refuges every night.

The money will provide safety and wellbeing support to victims

In 2018/19, over 400 children and 600 women stayed in Women’s Aid refuges across Northern Ireland.

All 116 grants range widely in value. The largest sum of £500,000 given to the Children’s Law Centre. The smallest award of £1,920 was given to the Whitecity Community Development Association in Belfast.

The list of recipients is huge, including youth clubs; senior citizens’ organisations; community groups; sports grounds; interface projects; GAA clubs; Orange Halls and an Irish language group.

Additionally, some organisations run projects that aim to improve mental health, tackle loneliness and reduce social isolation.

They have even been able to provide surf therapy!

Furthermore, £200,000 has been allocated to the Wave Project. This is a UK-wide organisation which provides “surf therapy” for children and young people who are vulnerable, isolated or struggling with mental health issues.

Over the next four years, a total of 240 young people will learn to surf off the coast of Portrush. They will also be given the chance to become surf mentors.

Kate Beggs from the National Lottery Community Fund also said:

“Whether it’s small pots of funding or larger grants, people are being brought together to make good things happen and change lives.”

The National Lottery is celebrating its 25th anniversary in November. There have been more than 2,400 draws since the original Lotto began way back in 1994.

Although the odds of winning the jackpot are still epically low (1/45 million to one), the National Lottery has changed so many lives and created more than 5,500 millionaires!

On November 19th 1994, Noel Edmonds took his place next to the lottery machine. He addressed a TV audience of more than 20 million people. Across the UK more than 48 million tickets had been bought. Prime Minister John Major bought five lines for the first draw from a shop at Victoria Station.

Check out this cool infographic from Sky News explaining some mind-blowing statistics, including most lucky names, birthdays, gender, and location.

There is also a great celebration of winners page on the National Lottery site! It includes stories of the extraordinary impact the organisation has had in the UK, contributing millions of pounds every week to good causes.

Check out this funny video including Jimmy Carr about what the National Lottery has done for the UK.

Good deeds the lottery has done in the last 25-years

Olympic Glory

  • Since National Lottery funding for Olympic and Paralympic sport started in 1997, National Lottery funded athletes have won 864 medals.
  • Team GB won just one gold medal at the Atlanta 1996 Olympics compared with 67 medals, including 27 golds, at the Rio 2016 Olympics.
  • All our Olympic champions benefit from your support in the shape of National Lottery funding, which gives them access to training, coaching, medical assistance and facilities.

565,000 Grants Given

  • One of the first projects ever to receive National Lottery funding was Morecambe Brass Band (for new trumpets).
  • They have given more than 565,000 grants worth £40 billion.
  • Grants have been given to safeguard UK species facing extinction and funding 12,000 schemes to help fight loneliness.
  • Furthermore, around £30 million a week is raised for good causes all over the UK.

Changing the face of UK film

  • The King’s Speech won four Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor, in February 2011.
  • Without £1 million of National Lottery funding, the film might never have happened.
  • The National Lottery has invested over £933.6 million into film-related projects over the past 25 years, funding over 22,860 projects – from iconic films to community film clubs.

Show your support today at Welovetto! We want to wish everyone on the team a big happy birthday!

A mother-of-three discovers her family won a £1m lottery jackpot on the EuroMillions Millionaire Maker just ten-minutes after finding out she had beaten breast cancer.

mother-of-three discovered that her family had won a lottery jackpot of £1 million just a mere ten-minutes after being told she had beaten breast cancer.

Lynne Price, a 55-year-old and mother-of-three, received her cleared scan results moments before her husband David came home to announce they had won a million. Mr Price, who is 53-years-old, checked his ticket at work to discover the family had won a whopping £1m on the EuroMillions Millionaire Maker. The couple are from New Tredegar, South Wales (UK).

Mrs Price talks about their experience:

“I’d just read the letter saying I had the all clear when David came home from work to say we’d won the lottery,”

“I can’t tell you what I said, it’s too rude, but I was in total shock…shaking and totally lost for words which never happens. I went and had a bath for two hours and just lay there trying to take it all in.”

“The letter saying she had the all clear is worth more than a million to me.”

Mr Price bought two Euromillions tickets while buying a pint of milk from his local corner shop Bal’s Best-One Convenience Store in New Tredegar.

Mr Price said: “I went home to tell Lynne but she had some big news of her own. The letter saying she had the all clear is worth more than a million to me.”

Mrs Price is a laundry worker. She was sadly diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. After having treatment, she underwent a scan in October 2019 which came back all-clear.

Luck runs within the family!

The couple revealed it is wasn’t the first big lottery win for their family, but the third! Firstly, they are distantly related to Ade Goodchild. She won £71m on EuroMillions in March. Additionally, David’s sister Judith was part of a Cardiff cigar factory syndicate that scooped a fortune back in the 90s.

David talks about how his workmates at British Airways nicknamed him “Lucky Dai,” before his big lottery win.

He reveals: “It was always a bit of a joke, but now it’s really come true. I still can’t quite believe it. We’ve been doing the lottery since it started. You put your money on but you don’t really expect to win a million.”

What are their plans?

Mr Price is an amateur climber and plans to treks to Everest base camp on a three-week expedition. He was saving up for the once-in a-lifetime trip in May but now he’s been able to pay it off in one go.

The couple have three children (aged 32, 26 and 24) and an 11-year-old grandson Corey. They are all planning a trip to China, which has always been their dream.

However, the couple both plan continuing to working while they decide what to do with their winnings.

A National Lottery spokeswoman said…”David and Lynne have such a happy story to help us celebrate 25 years of the lottery.”

National Lottery puts retailers at heart of new heart-warming TV campaign. The National Lottery is incorporating retailers into its new ‘Amazing Starts Here’ marketing campaign.

The National Lottery is relaunching with a new strategy and strapline for the masterbrand, “Amazing starts here”, as it looks to deepen engagement with players.

Newly-created TV advertisements to promote the National Lottery rollovers feature. Four store owners around the country in their shops celebrating the announcement of the rollover.

Wider strategy, called ‘Amazing starts here’, seeks to show how playing the lottery can change lives for ordinary people.

Tina Thomas of Pontlliw Post Office & Village Stores, Swansea, stars in one of the advertisements with a brass band.

Thomas said: “It was such a fun project to be a part of, especially given everything The National Lottery does for the UK and the support Camelot gives to retailers.”

Tugs at the Nations Heartstrings

Duncan Malyon, retail director at Camelot, added: “Our retail partners play a massive role in The National Lottery’s success, exciting customers about the jackpots on offer and helping to raise vast sums of money for good causes.

“With the new ‘Amazing Starts Here’ campaign, we’re looking to firmly establish playing The National Lottery as something everyone in the country can feel great about – and our retailers are absolutely crucial in helping us to do that.”

Equally, the campaign is being rolled out across all of The National Lottery’s games and brands.

Further ads will air later this year. This includes a 60-second TV spot supporting a good cause. Additionally, there will be a new ad for Euromillions, which will be launched in October.

Furthermore, the campaign pre-empts changes to the main Lotto game which will come into effect in November.

A two-minute TV ad, called “Fisherman”, will debut on Saturday (15 September) during The X Factor on ITV. Overall, the emotional film centres on the hardships of a working-class Scottish family. The father leaves in the dead of night to voyage out to sea and his partner struggling to raise the children alone.

Britain’s youngest lottery winner who blew her fortune on cosmetic surgery, drugs and partying says she’s happier without the money.

Callie Rogers, 31, won the £2million jackpot aged just 16 – but wishes she never had.

Opening up on Good Morning Britain, the mum-of-three explained the money was “far too much” for a youngster to handle. Her life was flooded by new faces who would sell stories about her to the media.

The winner explains why she believes an age limit should be imposed on National Lottery players – after her own fortune made it hard for her to trust people and left her struggling to live glare of the limelight.

Callie, who subsequently fell into a depression and tried to take her own life, said she had made countless ‘friends’ who she now believes was using her for money.

“I wish I was a bit older at the time of winning it,” she told stand-in hosts Rylan Clark and Lisa Snowden.

Child Millionaire

Callie was working on the checkouts in the local Co-Op in Cockermouth, Cumbria, when she won her money.

Pressured by friends, the teenager burned through half a million pounds on gifts. Just “wanting to be liked” the Cumbria girl believes she was taken advantage of by people she no longer deems “friends”.

She also splashed £300,000 on clothes after leaving her £3.60-an-hour job. Despite blowing £18,000 on boob jobs and treating herself, Callie explained wasn’t ready for the sudden change.

Britain’s youngest lottery winner says she’s happier as a working mum since blowing her £2m fortune.

Within weeks she met Nicky Lawson, father of her eldest two children, and moved into a £180,000 bungalow. She has previously said she spent £250,000 on cocaine during their relationship.

Callie quit work and splashed out on designer clothes, lavish presents for her biological parents and holidays.

Winning the lottery is said to be more likely for some people than others. Let’s look at the factors that might increase your chances of winning, including what name you have!

Winning the lottery is a dream that most of us feel very far away from. Regular buyers of lottery tickets get their hopes up each week as they await their chosen numbers to be called out.

However, are there people with certain names or careers who may be closer to the dream than others?

Jackpot.com have collected data from the National Lottery ever since it started in 1995 and found patterns in people who have won over the years. Some of the results are rather interesting…

Does a name determine if you win the lottery?

The top five names who have been lucky with the lottery are Derek, David, Alex, John, and Karen.

What about where you live?

They also revealed that, in the UK, Northamptonshire or Yorkshire have higher odds of winning then anywhere else in the country. Each county in the UK has racked up 11 wins, while Merseyside has had 10 wins, South Wales have had eight and Greater Manchester has had seven.

And your job?

Builders, carpenters, and mechanics are the most frequent winners. Maybe it’s time for a career change to something more practical?

Who wins more, boys or girls?

Although men are the more frequent winners, women have won bigger lump sums than men. Ladies have scooped up an average of £20.14 million compared to £18.23 million for men.

So, if you know someone Karen who is a builder from Yorkshire, it’s time to give them a call to hang out.

If you are that person, get playing the lottery at Welovetto today! You’ve got a very good chance of winning…
