Hospital staff lottery syndicate wins more than £100k on EuroMillions. The syndicate of 53 have scooped a golden ticket worth £118,041.10, the ticket matched 5 main numbers and 1 lucky star in the recent draw.

A lucky group of NHS workers are ecstatic after winning more than £100k in the EuroMillions lottery. Each member in the group will now take home just over £2.2k of winnings thanks to the 1 ticket, which was a bit of good fortune itself. Usually, the syndicate only buys tickets for the National lottery draw but because the EuroMillions jackpot was so high recently they decided to have an extra go.

The incredible jackpot on 8th October 2021 was an impressive £174,236,090 and the health workers came up winners by bagging the 2nd prize which was £118,041.10. The syndicate leader and pharmacy technician at Morriston Hospital in Swansea, Kim Owen, said: “We don’t always play EuroMillions but because the jackpot has been so high, we thought it was worth a try as the prizes would be big enough for us to share!

“I usually buy the tickets as and when but on the day of this draw, I decided I was going to wait and buy all the tickets at once. I felt like doing something a bit different might bring us a bit of luck – and excitingly I was right!

“I checked and double checked the numbers drawn on Friday night straight after the draw and I just couldn’t believe it, i was speechless. I had to ask my husband to triple check the ticket and as soon as I was sure it was true, I tried to call a few people in our group to share the good news. As it was late, no-one picked up, so I put it on the shared WhatsApp group instead.

“People were so excited and there were others, like me, who just couldn’t sleep so my phone was going off with messages throughout the night!” The syndicate is predominantly made up of staff in the pharmacy department at the hospital who are said to get on really well with each other and have given themselves the fitting nickname, “The Pharmily Crew,” according to online source.

After a challenging nearly 2 years working on the frontline especially during the pandemic, the EuroMillions win has helped lift all our syndicate members’ spirits, according to syndicate leader Kim.

A grateful Scottish couple who worked as key workers were thrilled to scoop £5M on the National Lottery! Paul and Louise Drake, 47, from West Lothian, who were working throughout the pandemic and have now landed a life-changing jackpot. The Family of 4 including 2 sons, 15 and 11, with Paul recently leaving his job as a Production Operator at the supermarket chain Lidl and Louise who is a district nurse.

For the golf and car fanatic the discovery of his life-changing winnings certainly gave him the early morning kick he needed as he prepared to head out for work, He said: “I car share with two colleagues, and it was my turn to do the driving so i had to be up and ready

“It was about 4:30am; I then got this overwhelming urge to check my Lotto numbers which i had done as a Lucky Dip. I checked my ticket and just sat there in complete disbelief. “I’m not an emotional sort of person but I just stop myself bursting into tears. I ran back into the house shouting my wife’s name and woke Louise up to tell her. We just couldn’t believe it.

“As I was the designated driver that day I still had to go and pick up the guys for work. It was so hard to keep it to myself. I went into the office and just said I wouldn’t be able to come in that day”.

“The people who I drove to work that day knew something was up and that I was acting strangely so it wasn’t long before people figured out my secret news. Our friends, family and colleagues are over the moon for us, they’re really chuffed, which is great.” Louise went into panic mode when Paul rushed into the house at the crack of dawn, immediately thinking something was wrong and immediately thought the worst.

Paul added: “We’ve both worked hard all our lives, as did our parents before us. This money is absolutely life changing, and it will help our lives dramatically from a financial perspective, but we won’t let it change who we are.

“Normally I am quite organised with my playing my numbers but this time, I must’ve been in a rush, probably getting 1 of the boys to an activity! “I ended up just asking for three Lucky Dips.

It comes hours after it was revealed two NHS front line workers Linda & Stewart Priston from Kent scooped £300k on the Lottery, which is fantastic news!

An amazing couple Frances and Patrick Connolly have given away about £60 million to help others around them to loved ones, charities and those in need during the covid19 pandemic.

Frances and Patrick, who lived in Hartlepool for 25 years, had said that their first priority was a list of around 50 friends and family to share their amazing fortune with following their big win on New Year’s Day 2019. Going against all the usual stereotypical champagne lifestyle that might be expected of huge jackpot winners, the pair have set up two charitable foundations: the Kathleen Graham Trust in Northern Ireland, where they are both from originally, and the PFC Trust in County Durham, where they now live.

The couples good deeds have included buying 1,000 or more presents for patients who will be in hospital on Christmas Day away from loved ones and handing out hundreds of tablets for people who found themselves isolated during the coronavirus lockdown so that they can still keep in touch and not feel so lonely.

Mrs Connolly is originally from Glebe in Co Tyrone and businessman Mr Connolly is from Belfast. The couples family consist of their three daughters and three grandchildren. Describing the past two years, Mrs Connolly said it had been an “absolutely manic whirlwind, and a total, total joyride from start to finish”.

The low-key happy couple, who were living in Moira, Co Down, at the time of their online “lucky dip” win, famously told how they had celebrated with a hug and a cup of tea, and vowed they would not become part of the “jet set” usual lifestyle.

Mrs Connolly said she had wanted to speak out now at the end of 2020 to help draw attention to the good work being done by so many people for charity during the pandemic. She said: “People need to be celebrated. Not me, not by any stretch of the imagination me, but by me talking drawing attention to the fact that, actually, we’re a nation of heroes without capes, up and down the country.”

Now living in a five-bedroom bungalow in County Durham – Set in five acres of land, with a tennis court and swimming pool – Mrs Connolly, 54, said they had turned down options to move to castles, as well as a grand stately homes one of which had 15-bedrooms and came with a village.

They also chose not to fly first class to New Zealand to visit one of their daughters, stating that they could have helped a young couple pay off a bit of their mortgage with the ticket price – instead opting for the comforts of business class.

Mrs Connolly said: “Patrick joked for years that if we ever won the lottery, he’d take away my mobile phone and never let me use the computer again because I’d give away the lot – But I’ve taken real joy from helping other people where we can espcially during such a tragic year for so many people.”

“We’ve no need for supercars, and I’m so proud that our daughters also drive second-hand cars, i would have been happy with a second hand Jaguar, as this is the car i have always wanted but we couldn’t find one so I treated myself to a brand new E-Pace Jaguar. It’s something that does the job, and there’s no need to be flash,” she said.

As well as running both charities, Mrs Connolly, retired from a career in education, helps her husband who owns a number of plastics manufacturing factories. When asked if the 56-year-old was not tempted to retire after the win, Mrs Connolly said: “He wants to keep people working. We’re too young to pack it in yet.”

On their list of family and friends to help were their daughters, Mrs Connolly’s three sisters and two brothers, and Mr Connolly’s three sisters. They also gave all their nieces and nephews money to buy their own homes.

Away from looking after relatives, the couple both flew into action when the pandemic rose to its peak, helping with much-needed supplies of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). During this time Mrs Connolly bought new machines for a sewing group in Northern Ireland when she heard they were making PPE for health workers on the Covid-19 frontline.

Parson and Morency’s win is the second Lotto 6/49 jackpot claimed in a month…

The province’s most recent multi-millionaires were revealed at the Alt Hotel in downtown St. John’s yesterday afternoon. Rumours had been flying since Atlantic Lotto confirmed the lone winning ticket for the September 12 649 draw had been bought in St. John’s…

6/49 Players were kept on their toes while rumors about who had won the amazing $18.2 million jackpot started to spread and simmer.

Finally, at the Alt Hotel in downtown St. John’s, the Atlantic Lottery revealed the winners — Nicole Parsons, a human resources manager, and Francois-Xavier Morency, a manager at a shipping company. It was Nicole who bought the ticket with random numbers at the Circle K Irving on Frecker Drive in the city’s west end

The lucky winners had heard the news that the lone winning lottery ticket was sold in St. John’s but Parsons says she put off checking her tickets because she wanted to put off the disappointment of not winning. But after 3 days of waiting, she went back to the same Circle K only to find she was the major prize winner!! “I was hanging onto that dream that it could actually be us. I certainly didn’t actually expect that it would be us to win this amazing amount of money.”

The couple, who have no children of their own, plan to look after family—nieces and nephews and parents are to be looked after first. They also plan to buy a new condo in Quebec to make it easier to visit Morency’s family there.

Since finding out that her lottery ticket was the one to win it all, Parsons and Morency have had some time to mull over what she and her partner plan on doing with the newfound winnings. They’re also avid outdoorsy-types, so they foresee a lot more camping, hiking, and fishing in their future with plans for early retirement.

Aside from all that, their plans involve other selfless pursuits. Parsons, who is involved with a local non-profit organization, can’t think of a better way to give back to people in need.

A very lucky £105M winner made an interesting choice: He decided to keep working instead of living a luxurious lifestyle...

Months after his jackpot win, Steve still works as a builder – After his win the builder promised not to let his customers down: but for what reason?

The new multi-millionaires told the Mirror newspaper after their win that they would take a couple of weeks holiday but intend to continue working. Thomson called the Jackpot win ‘really overwhelming’, which is very understandable. Steve and his wife Lenka say the money is ‘too much’ for them. The couple want to do a lot of good things with the money and, in his own words, Steve is going to be ‘sensibly generous’, he goes on to say he was ‘on the verge of having a heart attack’ when he realised he had matched all seven numbers after his win!

Mr Steve Thomson and his wife, shopworker Lenka, 41, said they plan to buy a new home so their children 8-year-old daughter & two sons aged 10 and 15 can finally have their own bedrooms. He also said the couple had made no big purchases as yet, just window shopping – although he did admit he went and bought himself a new shirt and had a haircut for when he was presented with the cheque.

A friend and neighbour of the family, Ellie Wood, 42, said: ‘Steve and his wife are salt of the earth. I’m not surprised that Steve is continuing to finish off work he had already on his books – that’s just the type of guy he is. He’d never leave anyone in the lurch’.

‘I’m just a normal guy and I don’t want this to change me. I’m a man of my word and I promised I would complete the work so that’s what I will do.’ While he was working on a customers porch, a neighbour enquired about having a new front door fitted at their home too. ‘Steve was happy enough to take on new work and made an appointment to visit the man’s address,’ an onlooker said.

A Western Australian newsagent has had a lucky streak, selling two winning lottery tickets in just one week!

Is this is luckiest newsagents in Western Australia? It just might be after selling two winning lottery tickets within days of each other. What store is it, you ask? Well, it was the Carramar Lottery Centre and News, located in the suburbs.

Lottery-west spokesman James Mooney said it had been a particularly eventful week for WA players.

“This ticket from Carramar Lottery Centre and News in Morley was the second division one ticket sold at this retailer in the space of a week,” Mr Moone

“We are still in the first month of 2020 and have already welcomed six division one players to our winners’ room.”

Winner Number One

Last Saturday, a man from Perth bought a winning Saturday Lotto division one ticket. The West Australian lottery winner revealed the moment he discovered the true extent of his winnings.

“I went to my retailer to double-check my ticket, and when he told me my it was worth $1.6 million my gob hit the floor,” the man said.

He initially believe his prize had been split three-ways with two other winners. However, that was not the case. In fact, we won the full $1.6 million to himself.

The winner was planning to travel abroad with his partner. He talks about his plans after the win.

“When I thought I had won $500,000, I planned to upgrade our seats to business class, but now I’ll be going first,” he said.

Winner Number Two

Only a few days earlier, Carramar Lottery Centre and News had changed the life of another customer. It sold another winning Saturday Lotto division one ticket, with the lucky winner receiving more than $866,700.

Interestingly, a psychic told the winner previously that they would receive a $600,000 windfall! Coincidence?

Happy Staff

A worker at the store, Milan Gohil, sold two lucky tickets within one week.

“I saw a few new faces after the previous draw, so I hope their decision to try out our store will have a good impact for them.”

He made it clear it was a unique start to the year.

Some lucky Australians (or players of Welovetto) could sweep up to $45 million in Lotto winnings this week alone.

It seems like 2020 is going to be a very lucky year for Australian lottery games, with this week’s jackpots including $40 million Powerball and $5 million Oz Lotto.

A $5 million draw was last night. The next chances to win continue tomorrow with the $40 million Powerball, which is already drawing high levels of attention online.

Is the year of the Rat a lucky lottery Zodiac?

Since Chinese New Year has just passed, potential winners should consult their Chinese Zodiac signs before buying a ticket. According to Powerball’s data, players born in the year of the Rat have landed the most division one wins. 2020 is the year of the Rat and it is also the zodiac sign for people born in the years 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984 and 1996.

According to the zodiac tradition, people with the Rat sign enjoy saving and collecting, and are optimistic and energetic. Australia’s official lottery provider is The Lott. Bronwyn Spencer, a spokeswoman for The Lott, said the data from more than 400 registered division-one winners suggested the Rat’s optimism may be behind the wins.

She states: “We can’t say for sure why Rat sign players had such a winning streak…

“It may be because their optimistic and energetic nature encourages them to dream of that life-changing win,”

However Ms Spencer emphasised that Zodiac signs do not actually impact the lucky draws on this week.

“Whatever your Chinese Zodiac sign is, it’s important to remember that lottery games are entertaining games of chance…

“Every number on your ticket has an equal chance of being drawn” she said.

400 division-one winners across Australian lottery games

Last year The Lott, released the findings of a new survey of more than 100 previous division-one winners. The majority of winners of Australian lotto used the money to safeguard for the future. For example, it found most winners celebrated by investing, helping out loved ones and buying a house.

“Each year, we crown about 400 division-one winners across our lottery games,” Lott spokeswoman Ally Ramsamy said.

“Many of these only discover their good fortune after we make contact with them…

“Not surprisingly, many division-one winners are stunned by the revelation and describe that winning feeling as one of complete and utter disbelief.”

Two winning Lotto tickets sold in Ireland have won close to €500,000 between them from the 12th October draw.

Two Irish lottery winners scooped a grand prize between them on the Lotto draw last week. The winners came from Kerry and Cork in Ireland. They played in two different draws.

Subsequently, they won a massive €493,365 between them.

The one in Kerry…

The lottery winner from Kerry scooped the top prize of €250,000 on the Lotto Plus 2 draw. The winning ticket was bought in Garvey’s Supervalu Tralee, Lower Rock Street in Tralee, Co. Kerry.

The Lotto Plus 2 numbers were: 05, 12, 20, 33, 42, 43 and the bonus number was 15.

The one in Cork…

Additionally, a Cork ticket-holder came close to hitting the €4,091,940 Lotto jackpot. However, they won €243,365 after matching five numbers and the bonus ball. The lottery winner in Cork bought their ticket at the Mace store in Mayfield Shopping Centre, Silversprings, Cork City.

The Lotto draw numbers were: 01, 23, 27, 33, 42, 44 and the bonus was 31.

Who are they?

The pair have not yet been identified. A spokesperson for the National Lottery said: “We are advising all our Kerry and Cork players to carefully check their tickets.

There were no winners of the Lotto jackpot. Therefore, it will roll on to an estimated €4.5m for the next draw this Wednesday.

Furthermore, it’s the second stroke of luck for Ireland in 24 hours after a EuroMillions Plus prize, worth €500,000 was won on Friday’s draw.

The Irish lottery has been running since March 23, 1987, making it the largest of the national lotteries.

A South Australian lotto shop could be the country’s luckiest place to bag yourself a lottery win after selling two winning Mega Jackpot tickets in just two days.

The lotto agent in Virginia, on the rural outskirts of Adelaide, is celebrating a winning streak after selling the first lottery prize $200,000 tickets in the Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot for both Monday and Tuesday draws this week.

‘They thought I was pulling an April Fool’s joke’

The odds were in favor of Virginia Lotteries Kiosk at the Virginia Shopping Centre after the outlet sold a Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot 1st Prize of $200,000 in draw 1263 on Monday.

The win was followed by a second Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot 1st Prize winner of $200,000 in draw 1265 on Tuesday sold at the same kiosk.

Virginia Lotteries Kiosk co-owner Rose Pogas could not contain her excitement at the news.

“How exciting. Are you serious?! That’s fantastic,” she told The Lott.

“I kept telling everyone I knew I was going to sell a Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize win one day – now I can say I’ve sold two.

“‘What are the odds of you selling another one?’ I don’t know what the odds are but I’m going to be telling them I’ve done it.”

Jackpot yet to be claimed

The winners of both draws remain unclaimed, so SA Lotteries officials are urging customers to check their tickets.

The Lott said it had not been able to make contact with the ticket holder to break that life-changing news. This is despite Monday’s winning entry being registered to an Easiplay Club card.

Lucky Lotteries is a draw lottery where the jackpot winner takes the whole jackpot. This is unlike lotto-style games where the top prize is often shared between winners.

Furthermore, this means the jackpot prize can only be won by a unique Lucky Lotteries ticket number.

The double win comes just days after a Melbourne man won two of three division-one Oz Lotto tickets. He shared a massive haul of $70 million when he accidentally bought two tickets.

A 90-year-old US lottery winner is suing her son and his financial advisers for allegedly mismanaging her fortune.

Gloria Mackenzie became the biggest single Powerball lottery winner in US history when she took home the $278m (£209) windfall six years ago.

But the Florida resident claims the lottery money was put into poor investments, costing her millions of dollars.

The lawsuit claims that her son hired a financial advisor who had no experience in managing huge sums of money.

Her son, Scott Mackenzie, says the lawsuit is not justified.

Ms Mackenzie was 84 years old when she won $590.5m on the Powerball in 2013. After opting to take the money in a lump sum and deducting taxes, she received $278m.

The son’s attorneys have asked for the lawsuit to be dismissed. This was on the grounds that Mackenzie wanted her money invested conservatively.

She says she gave half of her winnings to her son, who had vowed to look after her for the rest of her life.

She also gave her son power of attorney over her own finances. He had no experience in managing large amounts of money.

But in a lawsuit filed last month in Jacksonville, Ms Mackenzie claims that low-return investments made by her son and his financial advisers cost her tens of millions of dollars. She could have earned if the money had been better managed.

She was also being charged $2m in fees, according to the suit.

In court papers, Mr Mackenzie says there is no basis for the legal action.

The claims “are based solely on allegations that Scott introduced Gloria to an investment adviser who put her in conservative investment vehicles, in accordance with her chosen investment objectives, and effectively preserved her wealth,” he said in court papers.
